Whenever asked about "the future dream", I replied as "To make the Facilities which combines orphanages, Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs), zoological parks and hotels." This enthusiasm still retains me (after many years).
I, being an orphan myself, has been encountered various difficulties, such as an unease relationship with foster parents, thoughts for my biological parents, resistance of marriage from the family members of be loved, and numerous harassments. Thus, making the Facilities where no person would take any kind of discriminations became my hope.
People would be impressed to persons graduated from reputable university such as the University of Tokyo or Kyoto University. Same goes on with Sorbonne or Oxford. My dream is to make the Facilities like these.
Making the Facilities, like people would say, "He is well-trained in languages and disciplined. Has good social ability and abundance of knowledge. Because he is from that place." is my big dream.
To train social abilities and disciplines to such children, mature and elderly persons are imperative. And want to make group of mature and elderly adults who can show dignity and honor to children, not frightened or intimidated.
Healing power of animals is also intriguing. Consider the number of abandoned dogs and cats, or more largely pets in the world.
Every being cannot be saved. Human beings are no difference. This does not imply to save all of Cambodian refugee children, but may be one, or even tens. But with help from people, even 1000s becomes reality.
The Facility, where children and elders can learn and work all together with animals while enriching personality, would be wonderful, I think.
The family with child(ren) of life-threatening illness(es) can stay the Facility free of charge. The parents can also enjoy dating if the doctor is present at all times.
Others say, "This cannot be done while you live." It might be true. Maybe it is not possible, but possibilities are not zero. The reason of me being alive is this idea of "the Facility" make reality.
I am here to support all children. Among them, there might be children with cancers and life-threatening illness, suicide thinkers because of bullying, orphans, and abandoned children who cannot live life with their parents. This also includes many other children with anxieties and mental trauma.
My main aspect here is to support such children with anxieties in their future. It is not just "Giving" or "Doing", but germinate with thinking and dreams to pursue our goal together.
I am not trying tough. I am not giving up everything. Traveling abroad or going hot sprints are my enjoyments. Love to taste luxurious food at three-star restaurants. The idea is to act in the person's preferable range.
Would not say to children, "Do your best." Children do not have to "do" their "best". Being alive is wonderful thing, and the existence of being is the gift of brilliance itself. Aiming to the goal with one's own pace would be enough and sufficient, I think.
Please cooperate with my thoughts as you wish, as a member of this community. The only thing I like to ask each member a favor would be to act, even if this may be small, and do whatever you can to make your life complete.
The act here is to participate in this community. You do not have to do anything at the time being. Just and this community to you list. Your willingness to be a community mentor is important.
Dreams of children are varies. We do not know what kind of hope each child has. But number of helping hands is better if there are many, and if you think you can help, feel free to create new topics. What counts now is the human network and connections.
Let me tell people my experience here. It was a time when I visited infantile autism facility, I was amazed with their sense of colors, and planed to open the exhibition. I wrote the illustration with the Indian ink, and children put colors on them. To make this exhibition success, cooperation from various departments were imperative. This includes making contact to the newspaper company and let them visit the exhibition. This became one of newspaper article, and had an impact of some kind.
To make this event to work, cooperation was necessary such as finance, space, man power, and equipments, and asked to...
－10 sets of 12－color－crayons to crayon company (corporate)
－10 sheet of drawing Paper (corporate)
－Photographer to take pictures (individual)
－Designer to design collection of works (individual)
－Bookmaker to print and binding (corporate)
－Gallery place for exhibition (corporate)
－Volunteer staff (individual)
Other than above, I had to make contact with various corporate and individuals and wrote about 400 letters if I remember right.
As a result, no corporative cooperation was received, and every individual was welcomed to cooperate. Ever since, I decided to act as individual and did not ask for corporative cooperation.
The reason of initiating the community was, the Mixi is the "Social Networking Service (SNS)", which consists of bunch of individuals tied up. Even if you are not the kind of person to for the idea, it is the asset of volunteer organization to have this sort of human networks. If you are understandable to what I want to archive, please become a member to the community.
There are 7 million individuals using the Mixi right now. If one person donates 1000yen, the total would be 700 million yen. Is this not amazing? Japan version of Give Kids The World. Let me introduce one organization which is empathized me most.
Henri Landwirth founded "Give Kids The World" in 1986.
What is "Give Kids The World"? (GKTW) There is the official mission statement, and it quotes "Give Kids The World is a nonprofit organization that exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village for as long as there is a need." More than 20 years ago, Henri Landwirth offered accommodations at hi s hotel establishment to a family whose young daughter was suffered from life-threatening illness. However, he was found that the girl was passed away before her only wish of "meeting Mickey Mouse."
Even such a small wish could not be made true. With this thought, Henri, as the Holiday Inn executive, start asking and approaching his vast network of colleagues to create the facility in 1986 and opened in 1989. Wish-granting organizations identify the kids and also arrange round-trip transportation for them and their families. GKTW takes care of the cost of the lodging in its village and meals. Tickets to Disney World are donated by the theme park.
In the daytime, the families enjoy visiting theme parks such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orland Resort for free, without being waiting in line to enjoy the attractions. Great number of events is projected and planned for children with life-threatening illnesses, making "Christmas Day" on every week as the week might be the last ones to the children.
There's even something special for the parents: once during their week-long stay at the complex, on Parents' Night Out, they are sent away for dinner on their own, with gift certificates to local restaurants, while their children stay in the village with volunteers. Even Disney World characters would visit children for goodnight greetings by just inform them the time of sleep.
Give Kids The World Village is located in Kissimmee, Florida, where there are Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. The Village is running with more than 30,000 volunteers of heart warming willingness. While children and their families are enjoying their visit to Disney World and/or Universal Studios, voluntary students from local elementary and junior-high schools cleans the facility, and many other events and services like, but not limited to, theme parks attractions and restaurants are all run by the volunteers. Hence, it takes about one million yes to invite single family, the cost would be covered by corporate and individual donations and funds. The corporations and individuals are honored by showing names in star-like panel and hanged at the wall. No adverting intended corporations are only admitted for donation. Currently, such families are invited not only from USA, but from all over the world.
Who is Henri Landwirth?
Landwirth was born in Belgium in 1927. His childhood was shattered by the advance of the Nazi army across the face of Europe.
In 1950, Landwirth immigrated to the United States, making his way across the Atlantic on a cargo ship with only $20 to his pocket. Three months after passing through Ellis Island, he was drafted by the United States Army. Landwirth took full advantage of his military service to learn everything he could learn. Thereafter, he used his rights under the G.I. Bill to take courses in hotel management and found employment in a New York City hotel. He started at the bottom, but worked his way up the ladder by doing the work of others as well as his own.
Then he moved to Florida. He worked in a department store and as a short-order cook until he landed a job running the 100-room Starlight Hotel in Coco Beach, Florida.
When Walt Disney moved to Florida, Landwirth sensed the opportunity and along with several partners obtained a Holiday Inn franchise near the main gate of Walt Disney World.
The staffs are proud to say that the only contract for the village was the one to buy the land and that Henri's philosophy is to consider the power of a handshake and remember that miracles do happen and they happen every day.
Words from Henri Landwirth:
"I chose to help children because l was a survivor. I didn't expect to live."
"The impact of coming here on the children's lives is very important. They forget about everything else. It's only about having fun. But the wish is also very important for the families."
"I love life. I shouldn't be here. By all rights I should have died. My whole life was a miracle. I feel it is my duty to give something back. You've got to give of yourself －not money, but the essence of yourself. That is what makes life meaningful."

Volunteering: Have you studied English? Then, can you speak English? Many people would answer YES to the first question and NO to the second. Learning English is easy to start, as includes "Ekimae-Ryugaku" meaning "learning at near by station." But in reality, there are not much people are able to speak English fluent. Same goes on to fitness centers. Starting is easy, but it will not last long. It is also same with volunteering. Keeping active is very difficult thing. Thus, for this community, just becoming a member is enough. No member fees. No self introductions. You do not have to even regularly visit the community. Like the Whiteband Project, please put this community in your list.
Comments to people who accidentally led to this community like searching something else: Recently l received mails saying, "Why are you doing this?", "I am not in favor to your idea, but happy to donate money.", "Doing something like this individually would not change anything." To tell the truth, I do not know either. There are voluntary groups with spirit of "someone has to do." For me, this is not the same either. So I thanked about this. lf there are people who is thinking of killing oneself, think again and put your life in my hand. Stop mourning your unhappiness, but give someone else the happiness. You are one imperative being if you keep alive.
Thank you all for reading this much.
To everyone and to every children, LOVE & PEACE.
